You think that's worse? It's been pretty well known that several states have been waiting to take a crack at Roe v. Wade as soon as Justice O'Connor retired. Quite a few people would say that this was the primary issue at stake in the 2004 presidential election (that is, the ability to name a replacement for the 1-3 Supreme Court Justices who would be ending their careers in the 2004-2008 time frame.) South Dakota just happened to beat Utah to the punch. In any case, what you're seeing there is quite legal and quite probably represents the will of the (majority of the) people, so it really doesn't bother me at all (well, the ideology bothers me a little.) But it's not nearly as bad as the Deparment of Un-American Activities Homeland Security subtley inserting itself into every aspect of life...
